As with most elements of a modern wedding, couples are venturing from the norm and opting to change things up for dessert. In fact, some are ditching the cake altogether and opting for cupcakes, cake pops, macaroons, doughnuts, brownie stacks or even dedicated dessert buffets.
Even if couples still have a cake, in order to maintain the “cutting of the cake” tradition, they are works of art in the truest sense of the word!
And these additional above-mentioned delights are still be added to the menu, adding to the extravagance of a wedding [who isn’t impressed by an amazing dessert buffet reveal!] while providing the guests with more delicious food at the end of the evening (often great for counteracting any over indulgences in alcohol!)
Our simple advice to our lovely Brides is to double check with your venue as to what they allow in regards to “outside food”. Some venues allow you to bring in your own cake, and simply charge you a fee per person to serve it for you. If you are thinking about having additional desserts for your wedding we definitely suggest bringing that up with the venue, event manager, wedding planner, or whoever it is that is assisting you with this element of your special day!
But whatever you choose to indulge in on the day, be sure to smoosh it on your partners face and have the photographer at the ready. There aren’t many opportunities in life for you to get away with something like that, so enjoy the moment!
