Bespoke Bride truly believe in putting your own stamp on your wedding day. It’s one of the most important days of your life, so you want something that’s bursting with personality and character. If you are looking to have a naturally romantic, relaxed bohemian wedding you can’t go passed the ethereal look of macramé decor.
Styling with macramé is easy and can be incorporated into a variety of different venues: Imagine a simply woven backdrop entwined with colourful flowers at your relaxed beach wedding, your rustic table setting flowing with a knotted beauty, or your enchanting garden wedding elaborately decorated with delicately fringed macramé bunting. Simple elements flowing from your ceremony to your reception can provide the perfect bohemian feel, and are easily achievable.
This week we got the opportunity to chat with Rhonda, the creator of macramé wonderland, Luxdelin to talk more about her incredible creations.
Can you tell us a bit about Luxdelin and how you came to launch your business?
Luxdelin came about when I read real life stories of how craft techniques had fallen out of favour as people were buying mass produced items, taking away the experience of making something yourself and just how beautiful the making and designing process really is. I looked around first to see where I could buy materials, which takes a lot of research as I wanted to buy locally not from say China or similar. Wool was the first material that I wanted to use and when I realised how much wool was needed to make a blanket, the hunt was then on to find a local company where I could buy in bulk. Lucky for me, I found a Woollen Mill business that supplies large bundles of wool so I started making and selling on line and it has grown from those early days of learning to knit and cast on.
What sort of pieces can Brides purchase from you? Are you open to working with Brides to create custom items?
Yes, most definitely, I love to work with clients to create one off designs. What I have made as ready-to-wear items that can be purchased are: Bridal veils, jewellery, hair accessories, bridal bouquets, chair covers, and macramé backdrops.
For those who love your pieces how can they purchase them?
Contact is via email, where I can direct them to purchase from my store and payment can be made by PayPal. Luxdelin ships anywhere!
Do you have a favourite piece among your collection, or maybe a best seller?
Most definitely, my macramé wedding backdrops have been most popular with overseas buyers, especially in the US, UK and here in Australia.
What do you envision as the ideal Wedding setting for a Luxdelin piece?
My designs lend themselves to all sorts of settings. A country setting. On the beach. Definitely in a garden setting, as the macramé designs look like lace, with a hint of summer days and romance.
What inspires you when it comes to creating your pieces?
Firstly, the design, with lots of texture, hence the knots of macramé are very intoxicating when making up the long ropes for the backdrops and selecting lovely creamy white yarns of wool and cotton. What I try to capture in each piece is the simplicity of the design and the beauty of the application of a knitted piece or the repetition of the knotting process of the macramé application.
Can you provide for us a bit of an indication of price range for your Luxdelin items?
My prices range from $100.00 to $250.00 AUD.
We have a feeling that Bespoke brides will love your stunning creations. Do you have any new ideas floating around that we should look out for?
I have new designs in the pipeline including clothing accessories of gloves, shawls and boleros.
How long does it take between ordering and receiving one of your pieces?
On average 2-4 weeks.
Have you had any unique requests from customers?
I get great inspiration from my customers as they are thinking ahead, especially when choosing items for their weddings. Clients usually send me photos of what they are after. One request comes to mind of His and Hers matching cream and purple macramé chair covers!
