Many brides say that their wedding day was a blur. It was a mad rush throughout the day to get ready (while the Groom no doubt sat back and relaxed, getting ready just an hour before the ceremony!), they were swept away with emotion throughout the entire ceremony and they were so busy catching up with everybody at the reception that they didn’t have a chance to sit back and take it all in.
This is where a videographer steps in, ensuring that you have a truly memorial version of the evening for you to look back on, for years to come.
We recently caught up with Mad Rose Films to discover a little more about what life is like behind the lens.
How long have you been a wedding videographer, tell us a little bit about the journey you went on to become a wedding film maker.
I have been a wedding videographer for 3 years, and they have been the best years on my life. I get to be a part of someone’s most special day, and it brings me so much joy. I was very artsy in school. I studied, film, art and drama and I am an advocate for pursuing your dreams. I studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Film without knowing where exactly it would lead me. After filming my very first wedding video I absolutely fell in love with the job, and I knew I was in the right place.
What are some of the elements that you love most about filming weddings?
Being a newly-wed myself, I can relate to my brides. The nerves, the excitement the joy, it reinforces my love for my own husband. What I love most would have to be the grooms first look at his bride, as she walks down the aisle. You can’t put a price on it!
You are located on the Gold Coast. What are your favourite areas and venues to shoot in?
Funnily enough, I find myself travelling everywhere but the Gold Coast to film weddings! Weddings take me from the Whitsundays to Sydney, and film most of my weddings in the South East Queensland region. Two of my favourite locations would be Osteria in Casuarina, and Summergrove Estate in the Tweed Hinterlands.
How would you describe your style of film making?
Natural, elegant and loving.
Can you tell us a little bit about the packages that you offer for weddings & engagements along with a bit of a price guide?
Our videography pricing starts from $2000 and photography starting from $1900 for half day coverage. Whether my couples choose to have either half or full day coverage, the essence of their day is always captured and preserved forever. We offer discounted packages when booking both videography and photography with us. We also love getting to know our couples with a free engagement shoot!
When couples book Mad Rose Films for their wedding are you a solo videographer or do you have the option for couples to book a second film maker as well?
We are a husband and wife team! We shoot solo unless our couples ask for a second shooter. If you are after 2 videographers or photographers on your day, you will have my amazing husband Jake and I together capturing your love!
When you aren’t behind the lens what do you enjoy spending your time doing?
I love to paint, drink coffee with my loved ones, and go for beach walks with my Italian Greyhound Benji.
Do you have a limit of how many couples you book a month? When is the best time to book in?
No limit at all. The more the merrier!
It’s best to book when you are 100% happy with your vendor. Time does go fast when planning a wedding though, and some people (like myself) only have a short engagement before getting married. The sooner you book the better, just to ensure you can save your date. We easily get booked out 4 months in advance, so I would suggest booking no later than 5 months before your wedding.
Do you offer engagement packages or pre-wedding shoots? Do you walk through locations before the wedding / with the couple before hand? What other videography does Mad Rose Films do?
Yes! We do free engagement shoots for couples who book photography packages with us. We love getting to know our couples in this way before we photograph their wedding. In terms of location scouting, if we haven’t shot at a particular location before we like to do our research. Pictures are always helpful, and if we have time (and depending on how far away the venue is) we like to see the space and get a feel for your day.
Mad Rose Films also promotional videos mainly for wedding vendors. We love being able to connect with other talented people in this exciting industry! On the occasion we also film music videos.
