If the sight of a gorgeous young man looking dapper at a Wedding makes you gush, then today’s blog is for you.
Depending on their age Page Boys can be called upon for a variety of duties at a wedding but in reality we know you just want to show off how damn cute they are! And why wouldn’t you?! There is nothing better than hearing that collective Awwwww as every woman in attendance sets their sights on your little man.
While Page Boys are no longer included in every wedding they certainly do steal the show when they are. When dressed in outfits like those found at Victoria Blue it’s not hard to see why.
We caught up with Vicki from Victoria Blue to find out just how Victoria Blue came into existence. All we can say is, “Thank you James!”
Share with us how you came to launch Victoria Blue.
Victoria Blue was created just over 5 years ago and was inspired by the arrival of my first grandson, James. Disappointed at the lack of quality boy’s attire in the market, I decided to get my old sewing machine (Bernie) out of retirement and make him a little cap and waistcoat…then everyone else wanted some of my little classic pieces…I was suddenly in demand! The rest is history…
What inspires you when it comes to designing your gorgeous pieces?
The classic clothing of our past generations… especially the 1920 to 1940’s. They have stood the test of times which is a statement in itself! I love the look of a little man looking stylish but also must be comfortable and free for movement. To achieve this, we use natural fibres and generous sizes that breathe and are easy to care for.
What would be your favourite design that you have created so far and why?
Definitely our Newsboy Caps! It really is a passion of love making them, my most favourite thing to sew. To see a gorgeous little lad wearing one is such a joy…knowing I have made a small contribution to a couple’s special day is awesome!
Your pieces are simply adorable and I know that many of our readers will be falling in love at first sight right now – what is the process should someone fall in love with your work?
We recommend clients contact us approximately 4-6 weeks from their big day with any special requirements or queries. Our standard items are available direct from our website: www.victoriablue.com.au
Can you provide for us a bit of an indication of price range for your pieces?
Individual pieces range from $10-$50, plus we do have package deals available.
Do you have a “bricks and mortar” store or location for those who would like to meet with you first and view some samples of your work?
YES! We are very excited to announce we have just opened a store in the beautiful relaxing town of Dayboro. It’s 46kms NW of Brisbane and just a 25min drive from either Samford or Petrie to the East…a great destination for day trips!
We love people to visit! Visitors can view our products and also the gorgeous range of natural fabrics we now have available for unique custom orders…
We understand that it’s not just little men that you dress, can you tell us a little bit about the Grooms accessories you have?
We constantly had people saying what about the men! So we now have men’s Flat Caps and Suspenders in addition to our Bow Ties. We also offer a custom made service for Bowties and Pocket Squares for clients who wish to have their men attired with their own fabric.
When you’re not creating pieces for gorgeous Page Boys and Grooms what do you love to spend your time doing?
I love nothing better than to get creative ripping, block printing, dyeing and hand stitching fabric! I’m fascinated with traditional crafts such as Boro and Sashiko from Japan and the ancient arts of Block printing, Indigo dyeing and Kantha stitching from India. Look out for some of these elements creeping into future Victoria Blue creations…I can’t help myself!
For 2016/2017 what sort of trends do you foresee coming around for men (of all ages!)?
I don’t really follow treads…I believe one finds their true unique style and stands tall. For me it is classic all the way!
