According to a survey run by Bride to Be magazine, the average cost of a wedding in Australia in 2016 is now $65,482!
With that in mind it is completely understandable that Brides are looking for opportunities to save money wherever they can. However, we suggest you seriously consider NOT making your wedding dress one of the items you skimp on.
Providing an image of the beautiful dress (that most likely costs thousands of dollars) to a “designer” overseas can be risky business. Yes, you will save a tonne of money, but is it worth the risk of your dreams being crushed when the gown comes back either looking completely wrong, a different colour, made with a terrible material, stitches coming undone or fitting your Groom better than it does you!
We are not saying there aren’t success stories but why risk being the “one” that it happens to. You have to tred carefully when it comes to ordering from an online store, as you normally don’t have any access to speak with the dressmaker and you aren’t able to have fittings throughout the process of making the dress.
Unfortunately with the time that it takes to create a dress there is a possibility that your body shape will change ever so slightly or that the material will fit you differently than expected. It is essential that slight adjustments can be made throughout the process to ensure the perfect fit for you special day.
There is actually a Facebook page – Knock Off Nightmares – that shows disaster after disaster, that we would hope could be avoided by simply visiting a local dressmaker and having a consultation.
Don’t skimp on your Wedding dress Bespoke Brides! It’s the one day you get to spoil yourself without reservations. Make sure your dress is just as beautiful as you are!
